Dear Jackson Pollock, - Collages and Objects by Ray Johnson - Publications - Ray Johnson Estate

This catalogue accompanied an exhibition of the same name at the Pollock-Krasner House and Study Center in East Hampton, New York from May 1 to August 3, 2003. The exhibition was guest curated by Edvard Lieber.

"The collages in this exhibition are an overview of Johnson’s intellectual relationship with Jackson Pollock, as well as an introduction to Johnson’s own idiosyncratic and wildly original process of art making. Like Pollock, he was a pioneer of process, building on ideas absorbed from art history, but pushing the boundaries right off the edge of the canvas – or cardboard, in Johnson’s case."

Excerpt by Muffet Jones as published in the exhibition catalogue.

The catalogue includes the following texts:

"Vive Ray" by Phyllis Stigliano

"Ray Johnson on Jackson Pollock: The Artist as Material" by Muffet Jones

"Jackson Pollock and Ray Johnson: Participant Observers" by William S. Wilson
